The Military Prep Club
The purpose of the Military Prep Club is to prepare students for the challenges of the military through Military Knowledge Courses, Physical Training, Military Ritual Lessons, ASVAB Study Sessions, and more. We hope to help every participant reach their maximum military potential, and really stand out in the military. Military Knowledge Courses are held after school on Thursdays at the ASB room or Career Center from 2-3 pm. We have a Remind 101 set up for club announcements, sign up by texting @mmche to (760) 459-1099.
Physical Training
Our Physical Training is run by Anthony Bravo, an Army Veteran who trained extensively with the U.S. Army Rangers as well as the U.S. Navy Seals. He will be conducting military physical training on Tuesdays at the weight room from 2-4 pm for participants, as well as athletes (see "Part-Time Agreements") who would like a harder, military workout. On days that Mr. Bravo is not there, the weight room will be open for participants. Mr. Bravo will have a specific workout plan for participants on days that he isn't present, if they choose to workout. For athletes, this hard physical training means better performance, and this PT will make you more competitive no matter what sport you play.
How the Club works
The club is divided between PT and Knowledge Classes. We are on a point system for "graduation" from the club. The Knowledge courses will be year round, and a participant must attend a minimum number of each Meeting Type (Military History, Military Rituals, Primary Military Knowledge, Veteran Guest Speakers) as well as a minimum number of PT days to graduate from the club. To coordinate with sports, participants can divide up their days between their years at Serrano. Once a participant has graduated from the club, they can continue to work out in the weight room and stay active with the club by attending meetings with military guest speakers and attending regroup meetings. Regroup meetings will be held monthly. They are brief meetings just for the purpose of bringing everyone in the club together to regroup and discuss any new business or issues in the club. Once a participant has graduated, they will receive graduation recognition and get a pin for a letter mans jacket.
Part-Time Agreement
For those who do not have the time to participate in the club full time, we have 2 part time programs. The first is the Part-Time Participation Program. Through this program, participants can receive partial graduation credit, and most likely receive a part-time program graduation pin. The second agreement is a Part-Time PT Program. This is perfect for athletes who want to train with the club to become more competitive, without the Military Knowledge Course.
What is your goal?
Our goal is to help you reach your goal. We will help prepare you for the job you would like to do in the military, and connect you with military sources that will also be willing to help you succeed. We have the resources to help you get where you want to go, all you have to do is work hard and work with us.
The Benefits of Participating
There are many benefits for participating in the club. For one thing, it's the best local access to military training. You will not find military training so close and readily available anywhere else in the area. It is professional military training, with military personnel primarily instructing. These veterans are of course well trained, and know exactly what they are doing. This training will give you a head start when entering the military.
